Bio and Research interests

Dr. Giovanni A. Salvatore is a Scientific Fellow at the Wearable Computing Group at ETHZ since November 2011.
He was born in Spinete, Italy. He received his bachelor in computer scince from the Politecnico of Turin in 2004. He partecipated to the NANOTECH Master, a joint program among three universities: Politecnico of Turin (Italy), INPG (France), EPFL (Switzerland), and graduated in 2006 with a thesis carried out in the Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT on a new nanoimprinting technique. He received his Phd in 2011 from EPFL for his work on ferroelectric transistor (EPFL these 4990).

Giovanni's research is currently focused on:

• Plastic Electronics:
  design, fabrication and characterization of TFTs and sensors;

• Ferroelectric Materials and Devices:
  study of pyroelectric effect in energy plastic scavengers;
  study of Negative Capacitance effect for low power MOSFET switches;

• Smart Textiles:
  integration of electronics into textiles for ambient intelligent applications;

He is also involved in some national and European projects:

• TecInTex in the frame of nano-tera Swiss Project
• Flexibility as part of the EU VII Framework Program
