Kinkeldei, Thomas

Education

Thomas Kinkeldei studied mechanical engineering at University of Karlsruhe (TH) with focus on mechatronics and MEMS. He received his degree in 2008 with the final thesis "Development of a thin film sensor for application in tribological contacts". During his studies he was working at the institute of production science (wbk) University of Karlsruhe, the department for mechatronics and materials science at University of Wollongong and performed his internship at Bosch Automotive Electronics in Madrid. In October 2008 he joined the Wearable Group at the Electronics Laboratory.

Research Project

Smart textiles and clothing:
Project link

We are currently developing a new range of electronic sensor fibers as part of Nano-tera, TecInTex (Project link). Our goal is to integrate these sensor fibers into textiles to create ’smart’ textiles that sense and react to environmental conditions or stimuli.
