With main interests in control engineering, robotics, signal processing and biomedical engineering Marc Bächlin studied electrical engineering and information technology at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), Germany, from which he received the Dipl.-Ing. (M.Sc.) degree (with honors) in April 2006.
After one exchange semester at the National University of Singapore (NUS) he did his semester thesis ("Kraftgeregeltes Greifen und Tragen eines schweren Objekts mit Hilfe von zwei Roboterarmen") at the Fraunhofer IITB. One part of his semester thesis is filed as patent: (Deutsche Patentanmeldung: 10 2005 032 502).
With the diploma thesis “Standard and Personalised Segmentation of ECG Data” at the Philips Research Laboratories in Aachen, supervised by Prof. O. Dössel from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering Marc Bächlin finished his studies in Karlsruhe.
Since May 2006 he is working toward the Ph.D. degree in the Wearable Computing Group of the Electronics Laboratory with the research focus on healthcare and sports applications of wearable computing.
