Claudia Villalonga will pursue her PhD at the Wearable Group of ETH Zürich in Spring 2012. Her PhD Thesis “Opportunistic Information Retrieval in the Real World Internet - Architecture, Methods and Models” provides methods and models for opportunistic information retrieval in the Real World Internet. Functionalities for the lookup and selection of resources that best fit the application requirements; and in dynamic setups, a functionality to adapt the set of selected resources. These mechanisms are based common semantic models that describe the resources in the Real World and the information they deliver. This PhD thesis was developed in collaboration with SAP Research Center Zürich, where she worked from April 2008 to September 2011.
Claudia received her Telecommunication Engineering degree by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain, in 2006. She wrote her Master Thesis at NEC Laboratories Europe in Heidelberg, Germany, under the title “A Proxy based Solution for the Local Discovery of Self Promoting Services”. After finishing her Master Thesis, she continued her work at NEC Laboratories Europe for two years.
Claudia has taken part of the IST FP6 European projects MobiLife, MAGNET Beyond and SPICE, and the ICT FP7 European project SENSEI.
